End-To-End Design Solutions

Since the inception of HRID in 2005, I've worked hard to give my clients more than just beautiful sketch designs and interior design services. My pride is not only in concept design solutions but also in high-level service and drawing documentation standards. This is important because our projects need correct tendering processes and buildability without any issues.

Not only do we review other interior designers' drawing documentation through our RDM service (Retail Design Management), but we also get to see the current level the design industry is at. Because of my many years of interior design and documentation experience, today the game has changed for us. We show our clients how we can provide more than just excellent concept design solutions. While most designers have moved away from complex documentation, attention to detail, and extra time serving their clients, we have embraced it. We have converged to meet the rising expectations of our clients without extra charges and still provide a fixed design fee with no hidden charges or expensive hourly variations.

HRID’s countless testimonies speak for themselves. Our goal is for clients to experience the brand development in such a way that establishes a lasting loyalty.

Over the past 25 years, we have learned to take the design process further than just a design service. We are not afraid to utilise the power differential. That is why we directly and boldly use the sage advice of other professions. Through this, we have developed an end-to-end design solution that is unique to HRID. The result is that our clients do not need to do the hard work of looking for these professionals as we have them on board working for us.

Our  Process

You might be wondering how and where it all starts. What is the process from beginning to end? The following is a complete guide for you to understand our design process.

Our Process

Nine Stages of Our Design Process

Stage 1 - Understanding Your Business

The first stage of the design process is to discuss your business. What type of business do you have or are thinking of having?  We will discuss your brand direction and strategy. Next, we will conduct an in-depth study. We will "design interrogate" to learn as much as possible about your business. This is generally "the laying of the foundation" for good design outcomes.

Stage 2 - Understanding the Site

We will have a site meeting, receive drawings if available, specifications, and information that are relevant to the site and its condition. We will familiarise ourselves with the site by taking photos and measurements.

Stage 3 - Concept Design

Once we have gathered and collected all our research and information, through brainstorming ideas and sketch designs, we will develop creative thoughts on paper for you to view and receive feedback for the next stage of the design process. During this stage, we will develop a shortlist of the best ideas and closely consider our client’s feedback to prepare for our final concept design presentation.

Stage 4 - Design Development

We review the design development and seek approval of the visual identity to ensure that the design communication is clear, effective, and powerful for the success of the business. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹Once the final design is selected and refined, we will finalise the design and prepare a fully documented design style guide and materials package. â€‹By this stage, the entire design is well-rounded and has been finalised from the micro to the macro of the brand identity. Generally, this can be from coordinating the brand logo/packaging stage, to the environmental graphics stage, to the interiors stage, and through to the architectural stage and may also include external signage if required.

Stage 5 - Design Documentation

We will take the approved design and prepare CAD plans, elevations, and finishes boards, for approval by you and all parties.

Stage 6 - Preparation of Drawings for Approvals

At this stage, we will prepare and ensure that the drawings are ready for the purposes of authorities approvals, such as Private Certifying Authority or landlord approvals. On your behalf, we will lodge drawings to the local Council or PCA for approval. We review the full design package with you and all parties and seek final approval.

Stage 7 - Contract Documentation

The working drawings are then finalised for construction and for tender purposes. During this phase, we will call for three tenders and do a full cost comparison for you to see the actual cost of the project and assist the tenders with any questions they might have.

Stage 8 - Construction Phase

During the construction phase, we will stay in close daily contact with you and the head contractor / builder to ensure that the project runs smoothly and and adheres to the agreed-upon program. During this stage, it is very important that we also assist the experienced builder or shopfitter with any further questions they might have during the construction phase. We generally will have a site meeting once or twice a week, depending on how long the project runs. Also, we assist all consultants with questions they may have and inform you of the project program.

Stage 9 - Final Inspection

By this stage, the project is almost ready to hand over. All the loose ends have been tidied up, and we will organise with the Authorities and the builder or shopfitter an Occupational Certificate for you to start trading. We will also do a final inspection report to ensure that attention to detail has not been compromised and the project is completed to your satisfaction.
