"When a business has; good design, good brand identity, it looks clean, the product is very good, and it has excellent customer service, success will follow automatically."
Customers will always help others remember their experiences through word of mouth without realising they have promoted the business through face to face communication.

Bringing the Spirit of Greece into Contemporary Restaurant Design
Our involvement with Zeus Street Greek began with the development of a fresh design direction for the restaurant brand, drawing inspiration from the traditional streets, architecture and atmosphere of Athens.
The concept explored a contemporary interpretation of Greek hospitality, bringing together whitewashed walls, blue doors and windows, existing white brickwork, natural textures and vibrant accents of red. Through mood boards, material selections and detailed 3D visualisations, we developed a distinctive design direction that captured the warmth, character and nostalgia of being in Greece.
HRID's role initially involved interior design and project coordination, working across the development and documentation of new restaurants. This included the first stores at Carousel in Western Australia and Robina on the Gold Coast, followed by Harbour Town, where we completed the first fully documented store.
The work also extended to a proposed Zeus Street Greek restaurant at Brisbane Airport, where we developed a further concept exploring a stronger Greek identity. Although that project did not proceed, the design direction became significant to the brand's subsequent evolution.

The Design Inspiration: A Contemporary Interpretation of Greece
The starting point for the design was the character and atmosphere of traditional Athens. We wanted to move beyond a conventional restaurant fitout and create an environment that captured something of the experience of being in Greece.
Our inspiration came from the simple architectural details found throughout Athens: whitewashed walls, traditional blue doors and windows, textured surfaces, natural materials and the warmth of Mediterranean hospitality.
We explored how these elements could be translated into a contemporary restaurant environment while retaining the existing white brickwork that had become part of the earlier Zeus Street Greek interiors. The intention was to create a space that felt clean, fresh and welcoming, with the familiar Greek palette brought to life through carefully selected materials, finishes, architectural details and lighting.
Pink and Red flowers provided a vibrant contrast to the white and blue, helping introduce colour, warmth and a sense of nostalgia. The stronger Greek blue identity was particularly evident in my original mood boards as shown above and 3D visualisations. It represented the creative direction we wanted to establish, although this stronger blue expression was not fully realised in the first three restaurants.
For me, the objective was to capture the feeling of Greece rather than simply decorate a restaurant with Greek references. It was about creating an atmosphere that customers could connect with, while giving the Zeus Street Greek brand a fresh and distinctive design direction.

A Different Approach for Every Location
Although the restaurants shared the Zeus Street Greek brand identity, each location presented its own opportunities and design challenges. Carousel in Western Australia and Robina on the Gold Coast were unique projects, each requiring the design to respond to the individual premises and its requirements.
Our involvement developed further at Harbour Town, where we undertook the full interior design and documentation ready for rollouts having all the standard details completed for consistency throughout all the stores. Rather than simply applying the stronger blue-and-white Greek-inspired concept explored in our earlier visualisations, the Harbour Town design focused on creating its own character through a combination of architectural features, materials, finishes and carefully selected furnishings.
One of the key design features was what we called the Lighting Wall. This was a prominent feature incorporating the Zeus logo, giving the brand a much stronger visual presence within the restaurant. We also explored Greek-inspired soft furnishings and decorative elements to introduce warmth, texture and a sense of Mediterranean character into the space.
The result was a design approach that responded to the particular site while giving the Zeus identity a distinctive expression. It demonstrated that successful restaurant design is not about repeating the same interior at every location, but understanding how to interpret a brand in a way that works for each individual space.

Harbour Town: The Lighting Wall and Interior Character
Harbour Town was an important project in HRID's involvement with Zeus Street Greek, providing an opportunity to develop a distinctive restaurant interior that brought together the brand identity, architectural detailing and a carefully considered selection of materials and finishes.
One of the defining features of the design was the Lighting Wall, a striking black timber feature incorporating an oversized gold illuminated Zeus logo. This created a strong visual statement within the restaurant, giving the brand a prominent presence and establishing a recognisable focal point within the interior.
The surrounding design brought together exposed brickwork, white herringbone wall tiles, warm timber finishes and dark metal detailing. Greek-inspired soft furnishings, blue upholstered banquette seating and carefully selected decorative elements added warmth and character to the dining environment.
Lighting, materials and furnishings were considered together to create a contemporary restaurant atmosphere that balanced the identity of the Zeus brand with the practical requirements of a busy hospitality environment.
The Lighting Wall became a distinctive feature of the Harbour Town design, reinforcing the presence of the Zeus Street Greek brand while giving the restaurant its own character.
